I lived near this important cemetery when I was a child but had never been in it. As we walked towards the Bridge of Sighs the guide (next picture) who had ticked my name said to me, ‘I recognised your name because I took your book, Finding Takri, from the library to read. I was on the bus travelling up north. I enjoyed it very much.’ What a lovely start to the walk for me. It was a sunny afternoon too. Perfect.

A first for Mum Stickland, a satellite phone call from her ‘free spirit’ son (her words) from a yacht in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. He said they were sailing along troublefree, and I can see from the Arc fleet viewer that they’ve caught up with some of the others.
